My paintings begin with instinct. The surfaces feel as though they are discovered rather than constructed, with each mark carrying the energy of a first response and the discipline of a second look. What makes the paintings distinctive is the way they hold opposing forces at once. Heat meets coolness, gesture meets structure, texture meets restraint. In one work, a bold red form rises  through a misty field of blue-gray; in another, layered encaustic surfaces suggest erosion, memory, and renewal. I don’t rely on a single motif or theme. Instead, my work is united by a more elusive but powerful idea: painting as a process of becoming.

My materials also matter. Oils, acrylics, encaustics, collage, and mixed media are not simply tools in service of image-making — they are part of the language itself. The tactile surfaces, fractured passages, and luminous overlays create paintings that reward close looking. They have the kind of depth that comes from accumulation, revision, and trust in the unknown.

Perhaps most compelling is the emotional seriousness beneath the spontaneity. My paintings feel exploratory, but never casual. I am working toward something essential:  a visual language capable of reflecting not just the outer world, but an inner state of balance, struggle, and recognition. In that sense, the work is not only abstract. It is intimate.
